Throwback Thursday: Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

Honestly? This week I got lazy. So as good a record as this is, it has absolutely nothing to do with me. This week Throwback Thursday comes to you courtesy of a certain Miss Charlotte Edwards, an interesting girl with an irrational hatred of children’s TV. Let’s put it this way if she ever met Ashley(EDIT....I'm reliably informed that despite my original comment on him, Mr Tumble is in fact quite a nice man and there would be no need to harm him in any way) in person she’d probably punch him in the face.

Anyway, to the song in question. It’s taken from the album Metallica, also known as ‘The Black Album,’ which once sat at the top of the charts in both the UK and the US, in the summer of 91.
The story is that this track was written by frontman James Hetfield while he was on the phone to his girlfriend, with the song being about their relationship.

It was released in spring 1992, and charted at number 6 in the UK. It has since cemented itself as a fan favourite and has become a staple of Metallica live shows. It’s a fantastic record, deeper than you might expect from Metallica if you aren’t a fan, and here it is.
