It will be covering football in the Midlands, Women’s
football and loads of other stuff. So a lot of my focus has been going on that,
and also over the last couple of months I have gained a girlfriend and apparently
in these situations you are expected to see and spend time together (Crazy I know)
So yeah the bottom line of this story is that free time has been a little thin
on the ground so the blog has taken a hit. But… I am going to try and do
something about it so don’t give up on me just yet.
So the 1st
part of my blogging resurrection is coming to you this afternoon in the shape
of a review of the Premier League action this weekend.
I’m going to start at Old Trafford where Manchester United
came from behind twice to scramble victory against a very resilient Stoke side.
Once more United weren’t exactly firing on all cylinders but at least this time
in front of the Old Trafford faithful they managed to come out on top, with
Hernandez netting a late winner. How many times have we said that in recent
years? But the thing that really took my eye from this game was the booing of
Nani. I mean yes his performances may not have been up to scratch but how is
booing him going to help?
Probably the biggest game of the weekend took place
yesterday between Chelsea and Manchester City and it was Mourinho’s men who
came out on top. In little part thanks to yet another error from City keeper
Joe Hart. It has got to the point now where errors like these are now far more
the norm than they really should be so the biggest story at the Bridge was
Fernando Torres. Not only did Torres capitalise on said error from Hart but he
had a brilliant game, no one has been more critical of the Spaniard than me in
recent years but does the fact that he has finally put a couple of good
performances together mean he is finally getting back to some decent from? Or
are those in Chelsea all getting a bit too excited over nothing again?
Another week and more goals for Suarez and Sturridge at
Liverpool. The header from Suarez from the edge of the area was truly exceptional.
They might still be a little frail defensively but with how good they are going
forward they may well have enough to get into the top four. I think talk of a
title challenge is jumping the gun a little bit but they are playing very well
at the moment. But the real surprise package of the season so far has been
Southampton.
They have built a very good team down there and they are
playing brilliantly well right now. They have plenty of good young players,
young English players at that, and they comfortably beat Fulham at the weekend.
And the longer the season goes on it can’t be long until we see Adam Lallana in
an England shirt surely?
Elsewhere Sunderland triumphed in the derby but the jury
remains out as to whether this will kick start their season. Everton beat Villa
to keep up their good early season form, and Arsenal despite not playing well
eventually overcame strugglers Crystal Palace. West Ham went away to Swansea
and came out with a very good point as did Cardiff from Norwich. This isn’t because
Norwich are a good team but as a newly promoted team every point gained away
from home is a good point. In fact Norwich could be in trouble; they have spent
a lot of money but don’t really seem to have improved for it. Fer (sportsmanship
issues aside) and Redmond are good players but the rest are yet to convince.
So that’s all for now folks I’ll be back with
something else for you soon
